♥ 8:00 PM
Yesterday I went to volunteer at Camp Orion organized by the Singapore Youth for Christ. I arrived at PHS and 7:10 and found Jing Hui after calling him. Afterwards I met Justine and we had breakfast together. My first task was being a games conductor for some entrepreneurial game for the kids. After that I went to the briefing for race marshal of the trek. After lunch I went to the checkpoint with Benjamin. After a long wait, the teams finally arrived and we sign their cards. There was an injured guy and I gave him some alcohol swabs to clean his wound. I do not have any first aid knowledge so my help was limited but at least I know that alcohol is used to clean the wound. After that I went through the trail with 2 other staff of YFC. The hike through pierce reservoir was fun but I got into the mud twice and my shoes were very muddy by the time the hike ended. But the shoes were broken too, so I just dumped it. The destination was South View primary and we had dinner there. After dinner, I went home to rest. Overall the day was fun and I got to know many people but I can’t help but give some comments about the hike. During the hike, I was behind the last primary school team and when the secondary school team caught up, the started getting excited and wanted to go faster, but the girls were in front so the progress was somehow slower. The boys at the back then started making lots of noise and kept hurrying the girls and one girl ended up falling down. Perhaps they should have been brief before the hike about the importance of being in a team and not to grumble about the team mates. Maybe they are just too immature for this adventure. Who knows? From what I observe, even the team leader kept quiet and did not bother to keep the kids quiet. But I was only a checkpoint in charge that chose to come on the trek so I just kept quiet. Not very nice to say anything either.
