I am back finally from my Mission Trip after 12 days and I badly need to update my blog and I think I need to do it in parts as there are many important parts of my life happening and I want to document every single event that happens. Photos will have to come in much later.

Continuing off from where I ended in my last post, we had RE Chalet, Jasmine and my last day from RE, my first Mission Trip to East Asia and my First Reservist in Clementi Camp and yesterday I met up with my Primary school class for a Gathering.

RE Chalet

Finally after planning and talking and pushing, thanks to Senior Temp Consultant we finally have our chalet cum BBQ. Although it was timesheet day, we are glad that almost all the perm staff came down to join us after work for a BBQ session. On Monday, after work, I met up with Jas and we travel down to Pasir Ris to join the rest (Shaun, Nathan, Ian, Evon, Vivian and XR) who is already at the chalet. We played some games, had Mac at around 3am and caught some sleep. Ven joined the next afternoon and we spent the next day, playing more games, singing and buying the stuff for the BBQ. There is now an NTUC at E! Hub which makes it super convenient now. In the evening, we started the fire and started to cook the food and wait for the arrival of our guest, the perm staff. Initially the food that we cooked was not very good and there was complain that it was not cooked properly and after a few more tries, it was ok and Ian was the waiter of the day, serving and also performing. It was his initial wish to be a waiter when he applied for a job and it was a joke till this day. At around 9:30, most people start to leave and Nathan gave me a lift home at around 11pm after we hang around for a while, clearing up and chatting with the rest.

My Last Day at RE

4th July 2008 was my last day at RE and after 8 months of working here, it is finally time to say goodbye to the place where I spent my life after I ORD, the place with a great environment, great colleagues and the place where I made lots of friends. Initially I had wanted to leave in March but after considering for some time, I decided to stay much to the surprise of others and well I never looked back thereafter. I joined and was under Ivy and she taught me about the job and later I was under Alicia and also Elaine’s unofficial PA. I really enjoyed myself especially when people get a job through you. The temp staffs are close too with our regular outings and birthday celebrations and it was also them who brought me to my first Fish and Co meal and it was a great joke to them. Lolz. I made them a little gift for my farewell and I received lots of presents too. I got a Fossil Watch, skincare products, Crumpler Bag, Lacoste Shirt and Hugo Boss perfume from my colleagues and a HUGE card. I really missed working at RE. I took a lot of photos with various almost the whole office and shall upload them later.

Mission Trip

My first mission trip and glad to have this break to go for it where it really opened my eyes to a lot of stuff and where I learn a lot. Initially I did not want to go cause I wanted to a job change and I did not want a trip to spoil my period of work. But in the end I decided to go for it and it was a decision that I will never forget. At there, we attended their youth service, visited a village to conduct some HIV prevention programs, conducted a youth retreat in the church, fellowship with other foreign workers there and visited the villages of the students that we interacted with during the retreat. I guess I learnt how lucky we are in Singapore that we take many things for granted. The youths there are so eager to learn and to them the retreat is a rare opportunity for them to be train in the word and they are so hungry for knowledge and so willing to learn. Compared to us we should really be ashamed of ourselves that we have so many of such programs that we take all this for granted. Well the youth leaders there are also very encouraging as they really have a heart for the youths and really want to guide and lead them, just that they do not really know how and the environment is really bad for them to live a life for God. Pray that God will help them and give them strength to resist all the temptations.

My First Reservist

My first ICT at Clementi Camp and I was nearly late but it was ok cause there was a long queue at the In Processing. My phone was surrendered at the guardhouse and I felt so lost without it and now I know how is it like without my phone. We had several briefings in the morning followed by lunch and I saw Yazid who also happen to be in my company and we had lunch at the cookhouse before collecting our formation tags and I saw Nick giving them out. After which was getting to know my section and I am the youngest in the section and I am the SAW ic with 2 much older people under me and they are all the Beng kind. We chatted for a while but the 2 SAW gunners very quiet. Section Commander is this guy working at Microsoft, 2IC is working at Panasonic and the Law guy, Adrian is working at The Body Shop. After that was a orientation run to get to know the camp well and I walked cause I was not feeling well. I felt so tired after the day cause I just arrived in Singapore like several hours ago and it was stress to be back in camp again. I went for dinner with Adrian at West Mall and headed back for some well deserved rest that I really need to recover from my fever. This battalion is the coastal defense kind where we will stay back and protect Singapore or rather the causeway during war and it is made up of all the random and weird people, clerks, RPs, storemans and what not and some of them had not been caught up for 7 years and this is their first ICT and I am like one of the youngest there. Anyway I need to defer cause during the ICT in September, I am having school so yea new battalion next time.

Gathering with Primary School Classmates

Gathering with my classmates from 6C and I met more of them like Li Yi and Rebecca who is a proud mother one a baby boy and it does feel weird to see one of your peers having their own kid now and Yee Ling was like asking her so many questions and it was funny. We had dinner at Candele at Raffles City and present was Heng Qing, Ren Kun, Li Yi, Rebecca, Elim and Yee Ling. After dinner, some of us headed to Caltons for a drink and also to enjoy the live music there which the singer happens to be Li Yi’s friend and they were great. After the drinks, I sent Elim back home while and luckily Yan Wen’s dad picked her from Khatib so it is easier for me. Hope to see them again.
