♥ 10:02 PM
Yesterday was the day that I celebrated my 21st birthday at Downtown east chalet with my family and my friends. On Friday, I took half day leave and went with dad and Liang Ying to check in at the chalet. On the way there, we drop off at Yishun to collect a gift from Sharon and Li Xuan. The three girls had could not make it on Saturday due to some commitments so they pass the present to me first. After that we continue on to Pasir Ris to check in. The check in counter was under staff and they were so slow and I had to wait for very long. After getting the keys, we proceed to Blk B #1217 to put down our stuff before going for dinner. After dinner, we went to explore around and Downtown East changed a lot. There were many more new eating outlets around. After walking around, we went back to the chalet to watch Dvd and had some vodka.
Next day was the day of the party and in the afternoon, Liang Ying and I went to White Sands NTUC to meet up with Shu Wen and Jing Wen to get the drinks and fruits and salad for the party later. After getting the stuff, we went back to the chalet and mum; sis and her boyfriend came after a while. While waiting for the party to start, I went to buy some tidbits for us to eat as Camille was complaining that she was hungry. At around, 6 I went to take a bathe and change into a fresh set of clothes. After which, we went to prepare the ice box and chill the drinks before the guest came. At around 6:45 the buffet was here and by 7 the food was ready. First batch of guest to arrive was Elle, David and Shi Hui who came to help prepare the salad and also helped me cut the fruits. Next to arrive was Sam See, Matt, Zhi Yun and Gracia and they disappeared off to find the beach soon after. At around 7, when most of my friends have arrived, we started having the food. Foo arrived along with Aunty Elizabeth with the fried chicken wings and fries to add on to the buffet. From recruit express, the first to arrive was my beloved Mentor and her boyfriend and at around 8 plus the rest came along. It was a busy time for me moving around to my different groups of friends and chatting with them. Denise prepared a guest book for me where the guest were given a slip of paper to sign some messages and it was all put together in a photo frame and it was very nice and creative. Shawn came along with his balloons and made me a sword with Glenn drawing the Hiro’s symbol on the balloon. At around 9:30, it was time to cut the cake and time was handed over to Foo who played the guitar while we all sang Happy Birthday for me and after the singing, the guitar was a present for me too. Now its time to go back to learning the guitar. After the cake cutting, was photo taking with my relatives and different groups of friends. I was smashed in the face with cake all thanks to my colleague and when I knew it was Liz’s idea I went after her and at last managed to smear some on her. I was dead drunk last night and could only remember playing cards with Veron and the other temp staff and could not remember much after that. All I heard is that I vomited a lot and when I woke up, I vomit more and could not eat till just now at around 8 where I ate some cookie made by Shu Wen.
I want to really thank my parents for planning this celebration for me and all my friends who turn up and making this celebration so great for me and it will always be a day to be remembered in my mind and also all the presents that they got for me. Most importantly I want to thank my best buddy Liang Ying who came with me and helped me in the preparation and also for taking care of me along with my Dad when I was drunk.

Sometimes I just don’t understand people and what are they thinking about. For example, I recently helped get a 44 year old guy who has been jobless for like 2 years a job and it has a decent pay with only 5 days work week but after working for like 2 days, he totally disappeared and did not even inform me that he is not taking up the job. I was like what the toot. But then again its part and parcel of the job and life and some people are just not worth the trouble to help them. Tomorrow I got another candidate who also found a job after being jobless for some time and I hope he appreciates the job.
My 21st chalet is coming and I am soooooo excited about it.

The week that just passed was really crappy and bad. The total contract that I got was like 3 and one was in danger of becoming naught. On top of that, there were not many candidates who are applying for jobs and job orders aren’t that many too. Hope that next week is or rather next week is going to be a better week and I am going to fill 10 contracts. WORK HARD.
Went swimming at Yishun Safra on Friday alone cause Liang Ying had tuition and after swimming, I went home, change my clothes and went to meet him at Jurong East before heading to the hairdresser. Liang Ying seems to like the style that Ken cuts. After our hair cut, we went to shop around causeway point to spend my $30 John Little voucher and I bought a long sleeve shirt with it and also this white chocolate snack along with it to make up for the value. Next stop was timezone where we watched people play with the sweet machine and later we played Daytona USA and also some shooting games.
Had a meet up with PS members today at City Hall where we had a late lunch at Café Cartel. Time really flies and its been a long time since we last met up, it has been 2 years I think and I am glad that most people turn up for it and we had a great time chatting, updating our lives and also reminiscing about the past when we were still in NYPS. Well everyone had their tales to tell, with Kok Wei and Kenneth nearly losing their lives in Taiwan when the plane crash and Yan Lin looked very different. Haha. After ice cream and Ben and Jerry, we went back home.

Met up with Seletar people last night cause Yusaku was going to go back to Japan so we had a last gathering before he left. We met up at orchard to have dinner and surprisingly many people came, Master Goh, Yazid, Syahid, Sham, Sarhan and Shah. As usual, the S group was late. Master, Saku, Yazid, Syahid and I then proceed to Far East to have dinner first and wait for them to join us. It was a good decision cause they only came after we finished our dinner. After that we went to Starbucks to chill out and have some coffee and also to reminisce the old times we had together in camp and it was nice thinking back about the times we spend in Seletar and all the stories and all the confession of funny things that we do. But the policy is do it but don’t get caught. At around 11 30, we all left Starbucks and when I reached Sembawang Station, I realized that Saku has moved to Sembawang but I have never seen him around before. Lolz. After we got off the train, I chatted a while with Saku and wish him all the best for his trip to Japan.

Renovation at church is pretty much done. This morning, our BS is held at one of the 3 rooms at level 5. In addition, there is also a handicap toilet located there. BS today was on John 15. It was a great session with lots of questions coming from Jonathan some which I never even thought of it but on 2nd thoughts it had meanings in it. After BS, we proceeded to the brand new level 3 auditorium for worship. It was the first SF worship of 2008 in a brand new auditorium and the smell of new paint is still there. Now for SF service, we have 2 projectors, new sound system and a new drum set too. No message today but Jacob covered about what we can expect in the New Year ahead, the theme verse, the messages that we are going to have as well the programs ahead in 2008. For the family groups, there are changes too with 2 new additions to our family, Zhi Yun and Charmaine along with their contacts. So I went up to ZY and say welcome to our group female element and she was like I want Sam Sam. Lolz. So now both my sisters are in my group and well for our family this year we only have one program to plan for which is the Christmas for 2008. It is still a long time to go and we can all slack. Yay.
After service, we had lunch with Aaron and Jonathan which are Gab’s contacts but due to his NS commitment, had been handed over to Jon Foo and I. Starting next week, we are going to have BS with them so I got to prepare more stuff before I come to church.
After lunch, I went home and thereafter went to meet up with Liang Ying for a swim at Yishun Safra. I also reapply for my membership after it expired so that I can continue to swim there. I hope to swim there at least once a week. Gonna need lots of effort. After swimming, we went to have laksa and desert and guess what happen when I came back home, yea right I went straight for the toilet again. But then again the strawberry ice kachang after the laksa was really siok. Lolz.

Another stay home Saturday for me. Woke up at around 8:30, wash up, vacuum the house and wait for my breakfast. After breakfast was reading of the day’s papers followed by the bible and finally some reading of the excel book that I borrowed from Camille. Tried to repair my psp as it could not load the iso but I cannot fix it so in the end I decided to take it to the game shop at Sembawang Mrt there to see what the person can do. It cost me $15 to fix the firmware issue in it. Guess must be something wrong with the update. I had planned to go for a swim with Liang Ying today but too bad it rained all day and we decided to go tomorrow instead. Time flies and now its only 2 weeks left before my birthday chalet is here and for today, I have settled the buffet and also the cake. Now what is left is to confirm the attendance. Hope that it will be a great one for my 21st birthday.

Lunch today with Banking 2 at a Japanese restaurant to celebrate Jann’s birthday. The food at the restaurant is good and it’s the first time I ate huge thick sashimi. Taste wise not that bad but I do not really seem to enjoy it but the rest of the food is real good. Nathan did a cartoon drawing for Jann with all of banking 2 plus half of me and on top of that we gave Jann a present which was a wooden plague to decorate her home. All thanks to Gina for the help on choosing the present. This has been a real busy week with payslips, interviews and job orders, both temp and perm to settle. But well to me, the busier I am the better it is cause it means more contracts to sign and more commission.

It has been a long time since I last updated since my year end evaluations. Been busy and tired and had not much mood to update. For now I’ll just update what I can remember. On Sunday, 6th Jan Sam’s parents planned a surprise party for his 21st birthday and I guess he was really not aware of it and well it was a pleasant shock for him. Jon, Sam, Candice and I were the advance party and we went to decorate the place a bit and also to set up the mikes for the program later. First entry into the guest book was by Jon and I to show others how to do it. Guess not many people brought photos of him. After all of us came down from our hiding place upstairs, we sang happy birthday for Sam. Next up was dinner as well as painting of the canvas for Sam. A surprise indeed for me too when aunty sally introduced Pru to us, cause in the afternoon, we were still deciding whether to all her or not so it turns out that we did not have to after all. During the food and all, Jon and I sang the oldies that was playing. After that, we pass the mike to Sam who entertained us all with Trust Me and also promote the Spirit Flux Cd. After dinner, was lots of photo taking before we left as we had to work the next day.
This month has been slow for us, there was not much orders around and thus the filling of temps was slow. By God’s providence, I managed to fill a one year job and some other temps. Results still not satisfactory but I will work hard to achieve 1.0 per day.

Time really flies for the year of 2007. So many things have happen in this short span of one year and many important events also happen this year. Yesterday, I finally met up with my secondary school friends whom I had not seen for 4 years. Thinking back I was like woah man, its been 4 years since we last seen each other. During our secondary school days, we were always together but after our O levels and we split up to different schools, it was so hard to have time to meet up with each of our own commitments and work. We met up in YT’s hostel to cook a meal of pizza and pasta for Sharon’s birthday. Initially we tried to light up some candles for her but the wind was too strong so we had to give it up. After singing Happy Birthday song and having some food, I had to rush down to church to join sam see, jon and some others for dinner. However I was quite late and they had already finished their dinner but it was ok cause I was not hungry too. After dinner we went over to church for the watch night service. This is my first watch night service since during the last one I was on duty but my friends are kind enough to call me and we can count down together. Well watch night service is great with lots of singing and praising to the Lord and after which was the sharing session where many people shared about how they want to thank the lord for the things that happen in this year. What surprised me was Jon’s sharing about how he brought me to church and how the way I am involved in the church ministry has really encouraged him. For me I really thank him for bringing me to church.
Looking back this year had really been eventful one for me and many important events occur. First of all its my ORD this year and finally after one year and 10 months of very happening NS life, it finally came to an end and I was called back to the civilian world and I really want to thank God for being with me through all the training, the tough times that I had, the accident that got me in hospital and also to cope with a very different work when I was a RP before I ended my service. I also thank God that I was able to find work very soon after my ORD and well I got an interesting job with great people to work with and I am happy where I am .
The next important thing this year was the planning of the year end retreat. Through this planning, I really learn how important it is to really pray to God, asking for his help and leaving things in to his hands and not rely on our own strength but in everything and anything trust in him. For one, I thank for God providing me with great people who help me along in the retreat planning. The great people God gave to me in the committee was Jonathan, Daniel, Justin, Samuel and last but not least Samantha and Zhi Yun. On top of all these, I was also blessed with 2 great people who guided us along this planning, Jacob and Moses who really help us a lot in the teaching part of the retreat and led me to develop my thinking skills. Discussions with him were always eventful and I am really amazed at how he could always ask the right questions to get the discussions going. Planning this retreat was not easy with many problems with the programs, the teaching, and the theme and so on. For us the proposal was rejected like twice and everything was only pretty much confirmed quite late and nearing the date of the retreat and even the programs were not settled and nearing the date, there were many things to settle, details to iron out and the theme special was not out until the week of the retreat and on the night before the day, we were still settling some details. God was faithful and through this I really learn to pray to God more and to commit the retreat in his hands and at times I felt that this retreat would be a flop but God showed us otherwise and I am amazed at how things fall into place at the right time and the retreat was quite a success with pretty good comments from Sfers and we managed to achieve the lesson we hope for the Sfers to learn.
This year had also been a year where I get to know more people in church better through being involved in various programs and also the mid year retreats. During the mid year retreat I managed to talk to one of Sam’s friend about the importance of faith in God above all the history and theology. I had a wonderful and interacting conversation with him and I hope he is doing well too. I am thankful for all the wonderful friends in church too people who all share the same faith with me and I am glad for friends who can encourage each other and keep each other strong in Christ.
2008 is a new beginning and it is a new start for me having just started work and now having more time. As a usual tradition, it time to make new year resolutions and I have a few for this year
