Time flies and a week has past which marks the end of the Asian Business Case Competition 2008. In this week, I’ve made many new friends, had great experience and also lots of fun. The winner was from USC, but this competition is more than winning, it’s an experience, a chance to meet new people and make new friends and also a gateway into a whole new experience. We ended off the night with the gala dinner at Asian Civilization Museum where we had a nice meal at a great place, wine to drink while interacting with the other students and also lots of great fun taking photos enjoying the night. Part 2 was at Dbl O where it was a great night partying and de-stressing with all the other students to let out hair down after the competition and also for us to enjoy before we start the battle for our examinations.
During case preparation I was pretty slack as my team did not call me at all for anything and I managed to tag along the faculty program with the other advisors. We went to Little India, Esaplanade, lunch was at the Singapore Cricket Club for the ambassadors, Singapore Flyer and finally ended off with a dinner at M hotel where we had the hotpot buffet.
Little India was real hot in the afternoon and we toured around, looking at the traditional crafts and trying out the food which the Profs all enjoyed. After touring, we went to Esplanade where it was free and easy while Prof Tan bought all the NTU students to the cricket club for lunch. It was a posh place for members only and we had the set lunch with beer and had a great conversation with him.
After lunch was the Singapore Flyer and being first time for many of us, we were more excited than the Profs and started taking lots of photos. Well for those who have not tried it yet, it was only fun for the first 5-7 min and after that it was boring and you can see lots of construction going on. We had dinner at M hotel where we had the hotpot buffet and it was great, especially the drunken prawns which were very sweet and springy. The faculty advisors were fascinated with the hot pot and were making plans on coming back next year to eat it which in my opinion is a great thing.
Well when I sign up for this, I did not really know what it was and all but it was really a great experience and I never regret and really have to sincerely thank yee ling for introducing me this great opportunity where I made lots of friends and had lots of interesting experience.
